Diego Romero

I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and raised in Cochiti, Pueblo New Mexico by my mother Mary Eunice Romero-Little with help of my grand parents Joe & Percy Romero. I grew up our traditional life style, learning and participating in our culture. I was taught our Keres language which is very important part of life in Cochiti. All my inspiration comes from our culture, songs, dances, and societies that we a fortunate to still have. Our Cochiti language, religion, and culture is very special and sacred to me and many of my Cochiti people. This is where I get a lot of my ideas, perspective, designs, and creativeness from. With these creative ideas I hope to use them to communicate, touch, and inspire people to be balanced and thankful in life. I also use the inspiration to get through school. I attend Arizona State University in the field of Digital Art with a emphasis on Computer Animation. Living in two different worlds is difficult and it was my way to find reason, balance, and motivation. Working way from home I do hope to make my people proud and encourage the younger generation to follow their dreams but also to remember where they come from. Someday I will be able to help and move my community in best ways possible for our ways of life to co-exist with mainstream society today.
